The team

The Graduate Research School governs, manages and administers all aspects of the University’s Research Training degrees, from application to thesis classification.

About the opportunity

The Administrative Officer (Admissions) is a key member of the Graduate Research School who, under broad direction, takes primary responsibility for the implementation of rules and policies associated with student enquiry management, application, admission and commencement of Higher Degree by Research (HDR) students.

The Administrative Officer (Admissions) works closely with the Manager (Pre-Candidature) and the HDR Support staff in the faculty service delivery centres.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent competency
  • Substantial relevant senior administrative experience at an appropriate level, preferably including experience in HDR student management
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively as part of a team

About you

The appointee will demonstrate outstanding client service and leadership skills, excellent planning and organisational skills, high-level knowledge of legislation and practice related to the recruitment of HDR students and excellent communication and negotiation skills.
