About us

The Medical Physics group undertakes research into the applications of physics to treatment of human disease. The group is supporting a national clinical trial into the use of multiple imaging modalities to aid treatment of glioblastoma multiforme (GBM). The work relates to developing processes for collating, processing and analysing the imaging data generated from that trial and the pre-trial credentialing processes.

About the opportunity

Your role will be to collate benchmarking and credentialing data generated from institutions participating in the TROG 18.06 FIG (FET in Glioma) trial and generate comparative measures across those data.

You will develop the methodology to spatially compare clinician segmentations of target volumes, background volumes and delineated normal tissue structures. You will design metrics for comparison of radiotherapy planning dose distributions between centres, as well as comparison of dose distributions to delineated target regions.

You will establish a suite of metrics for ongoing extraction from trial participant data.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • MSc in Medical Physics (completed or near-completion)
  • High-level understanding of nuclear medicine, magnetic resonance and computed tomography imaging
  • Demonstrated experience in medical image processing including the extraction of radiomics features
  • Experience working in a multi-disciplinary clinical research setting
  • A working knowledge of the 3D Slicer software; the use of Python libraries for manipulation and processing of DICOM imaging data; the use of Python radiomics libraries

Full details of the position responsibilities are outlined in the position description.
