WA Health Translation Network (WAHTN), Consumer and Community Involvement Program (CCIProgram)

  • Be part of a team that brings together health and medical researchers, consumers and community members to inform research.
  • Part-time (0.6 - 0.8 FTE), fixed-term appointment until 30 June 2021 with the possibility of extension (funding dependent)
  • Salary range: Level 6, $83,005 - $87,723 p.a. (pro rata) plus superannuation

About the team

The WA Health Translation Network works with the Universities, Medical Research Institutes, the State Government, Health Service Boards, the Private Hospital sector, PathWest and allied health professionals in WA to drive local, national and international collaborations, to build capacity in key areas of health and medical research.

The CCIProgram is a key enabling platform of WAHTN that supports the health and innovation sector to ensure community and consumers are involved in research.

The UWA provides HR and financial support to the WAHTN in its role as Centre Agent for the Partners.

About the opportunity

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a passionate Consumer and Community Involvement (CCI) Coordinator to join our team, and be part of an innovative program where the consumer and community 'voice' is integral to the way health research is designed, delivered and translated into better health outcomes for patients, an improved health system and improved policy and practice.

In this unique and exciting CCI Coordinator role, you will bring strong relationship management skills and provide guidance and support to both researchers and the community.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Demonstrated understanding of and/or experience in consumer and community involvement principles and practice
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, and advocacy and diplomacy skills
  • Highly developed organisational skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and to meet deadlines
  • Highly developed relationship building skills with various stakeholders
  • Highly developed presentation skills and competent public speaker
  • Proficiency in a range of computing skills including word processing, spreadsheets, databases, internet and Microsoft Office
  • Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively as part of a team
  • Demonstrated passion for community health and innovation research with a keen interest in consumer and community involvement
  • Strong understanding of the importance of the ‘lived experience’ in health and innovation research and teaching programs
