  • Play a key role in supporting the financial sustainability of a leading marine science institution.
  • Flexible role with school hours and remote work arrangements considered.
  • Part-time (0.6 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis until July 2028, with the potential to increase work hours (between 24-30pw) based on business needs.
  • Base salary range: $83,212 – $92,231 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Western Australian Marine Science Institution (WAMSI) operates within the Oceans Graduate School at The University of Western Australia. The Finance and Administration team provides essential financial and operational support to ensure WAMSI’s effective functioning. This includes maintaining accurate records, ensuring compliance, and delivering timely reporting to support strategic decision-making. The Finance Officer plays a vital role in managing day-to-day financial processes and supporting broader financial planning and governance.

About the opportunity

  • Manage daily financial operations including accounts payable/receivable, reconciliations, and payroll support.
  • Prepare financial reports, BAS returns, and support committee meetings and audits.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement in financial systems and processes within a collaborative team.

About you

  • Diploma or progressing towards a degree in Bookkeeping or Accounting.
  • 3–5 years’ experience in financial operations, ideally within the university or research sector.
  • Skilled in preparing financial reports, budgets, and supporting audit processes.
  • Proficient in finance systems such as QuickBooks, Excel, and SharePoint.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills with a commitment to confidentiality and accuracy.

Note: A current National Police Clearance Certificate and a Finance Check will be required by the successful applicant.
