  • Part-time (0.53 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis until December 2027.
  • Base salary range: Level A, $83,499 – $112,371p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.
  • Located at Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research.

About the area

This position is based within the Rare Disease Genetics and Functional Genomics Group and Preventive Genetics Group at the Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research, led by Dr Gina Ravenscroft and Professor Nigel Laing respectively, and is part of the UWA Centre for Medical Research.

About the opportunity

  • You will work with other researchers and will provide input into the planning, development and initiation of research designs, protocols and report findings.
  • Assist on the Ravenscroft MRFF EMCR grant ‘The missing heritability of human disease: discovery to implementation’ and project coordination, as well as other projects within the Group.
  • Work as part of a team to further the goals of the Rare Disease Genetics and Functional Genomics Group.

 About you

  • Bachelor’s degree or demonstrated equivalent experience in academic field relevant to the discipline.
  • Relevant experience in a rare disease genetics research laboratory.
  • Demonstrated experience in curating manifests of patient samples for genomic sequencing and analysis for Sangers sequencing in addition to short-read and long-read whole genome sequencing.
  • Demonstrated commitment in participating in high quality research evidenced by peer-reviewed journal articles published in respected scholarly journals.    
  • Relevant demonstrated laboratory experience and experience writing up research findings for publications.
