The Australian Herbicide Resistance Initiative (AHRI) is a world-renowned research group dedicated to addressing herbicide resistance challenges. AHRI collaborates with the farming community and industry to develop innovative programs that support sustainable cropping across Australia.

About the opportunity

• Contribute to groundbreaking agronomy research focusing on herbicide resistance and weed control.
• Conduct field, laboratory, and glasshouse experiments on plant growth, yield, and sustainability in Western Australian cropping systems.
• Work in a collaborative environment with researchers, industry partners and landholders to improve weed management and crop agronomy.

About you

• A tertiary qualification or Certificate in Laboratory Techniques (or equivalent experience) in agriculture or plant science.
• Extensive field research experience in weed control and crop agronomy, preferably within Australian dryland cropping systems.
• Proficiency in conducting small plot field experiments and glasshouse trials.
• Strong data collection, analytical, and reporting skills.
• Highly developed organisational and communication skills with the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Special Requirements

• Willingness to travel to remote WA grain-belt locations, including overnight stays.
• Ability to work occasional weekends and after-hours as required.
• A current ‘C’ class driver’s licence.
• Physical fitness to meet the demands of fieldwork.
