About the area
The People & Culture (P&C) team at The University of Western Australia (UWA) plays a crucial role in driving operational excellence, enhancing the employee experience, and ensuring compliance with workforce-related policies and legislation. Within P&C, the Payroll & Advisory Services function is responsible for delivering seamless payroll operations, employee lifecycle transactions, and advisory services. This team is at the heart of ensuring UWA staff are supported with accurate, efficient, and high-quality payroll and advisory services

About the opportunity

  • Continuously evaluate and enhance recruitment and onboarding policies to ensure regulatory compliance and best practice implementation.
  • Work closely with hiring managers, providing organisational hierarchy insights and job classification expertise.
  • Conduct internal audits and assist with external audits related to recruitment and onboarding compliance.
  • Oversee compliance with employment regulations, including visa status checks, working rights, and background checks.
  • Maintain accurate job classifications, department structures, and reporting lines.
  • Conduct job evaluations and pay structure reviews, ensuring alignment with university changes and market trends.
  • Engage managers and employees to establish fair and transparent benchmarks for job classifications.

About you

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to adhere to policies and procedures.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills for stakeholder engagement.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; knowledge of PageUp or other Candidate Management Systems (CMS) is desirable..
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent competency in HR, Compliance, or related fields.
  • Experience in a similar role within a university or large organisation is highly desirable.
