About the area

The ACG is a multi-disciplinary joint venture and UWA Research Centre which provides professional education training and research services to the mining sector, in the disciplines of underground, open pit and environmental mining geomechanics. The overall aim of the Centre is to improve mine safety and productivity.

ACG’s main activities are applied mining industry research, and the facilitation of continuing education and training through courses and conferences. Technology transfer from research outcomes through publications, training courses and training materials is an important part of the ACG’s mandate.

About the opportunity

  • Contribute to the development of mXrap apps and algorithms, provide technical support and training to sponsor sites, and participate in site visits for data gathering and technology transfer.
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in mine seismicity and rock mechanics, analyze sponsor data, and prepare technical reports and project documentation.
  • Assist in developing training materials, present at ACG events, and supervise undergraduate student projects, while contributing to broader ACG research initiatives.

About you

  • A postgraduate degree in Engineering (Masters or PhD).
  • Extensive theoretical knowledge of mining rock mechanics and mine seismicity.
  • Demonstrated experience in mining geomechanics practice.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop applications within mXrap.
