  • This position is only open to Current UWA staff  

  • Part-time (0.5 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis for 5 years as a secondment from substantive UWA role. 

  • Base salary range: Level E, $222,129 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation. 

  • An additional allowance to reflect additional duties applies to this role (pro-rata). 

About the area 

The UWA Data Institute leverages UWA’s expertise in data-driven research and innovation to facilitate research collaboration between academia, industry, government and the community. It is a gateway into data science and artificial intelligence research at UWA, an enabler of strategic cross-disciplinary research and a provider of significant quality engagement opportunities across UWA, industry and the community.  

About the opportunity 

  • Provide direction and co-ordination of the Data Institute’s strategy, working with key partners internally and externally to grow capability and build support for world-class research collaboration between academia, industry, government and the community 

  • Drive the next phase of development of the UWA Data Institute and support its strategic development. 

About you 

  • PhD in a relevant field and an internationally recognised track record 

  • Proven ability to lead with vision, drive strategic direction, inspire and support teams, and foster a culture of collaboration, integrity, and inclusion. 

  • Strong strategic and analytical capabilities 

  • Experience leading multidisciplinary research 

  • Active participation in national and international data-driven research networks, infrastructure initiatives, or partnerships addressing major global challenges.
