About the area

The Risk, Integrity, Safety, and Compliance (RISC) division oversees the University’s policy, risk management, safety and compliance frameworks, leads initiatives to embed enterprise-wide, integrated risk management and fosters a positive, risk-aware culture. RISC’s areas of responsibility encompass health, safety & wellbeing, enterprise risk, internal audit, business continuity policy & compliance, and information governance.

The Compliance team, a newly established team within RISC, will provide a structured and coordinated approach to compliance management across the University’s vast and diverse operations, supporting the University’s commitment to a strong risk management culture.

About the opportunity

  • Support the development, implementation and oversight of a University-wide compliance framework and system to ensure the University meets its legal and regulatory obligations.
  • Work closely with University stakeholders to investigate and evaluate compliance risks, conduct compliance risk assessments and recommend appropriate solutions to effectively mitigate them.
  • Monitor legislative and regulatory changes, assessing their impact on the University and recommending necessary adjustments to policies and procedures to minimise compliance risks.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of appropriate training to increase compliance awareness and capabilities across the University.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in law, governance, business administration, or a related field.
  • Extensive experience in compliance management, preferably within the Australian higher education sector.
  • Demonstrated significant experience in establishing, leading and implementing compliance management systems and assurance programs.
  • Demonstrated experience in the interpretation of legislation and a good understanding of the Australian legislative and regulatory environment.
  • Knowledge and experience in the preparation of policy, procedures, training materials and supporting documentation.

Note: A current National Police Clearance Certificate will be required by the successful applicant.
