  • Full-time appointment on a fixed term basis for 12 months.
  • Base salary range: Level A, $80,520 – $108,362 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

The UWA School of Agriculture and Environment is located in one of the world’s biodiversity hotspots. Surrounded by a wealth of agricultural, natural and mining resources, our location allows us to produce innovative research with worldwide application.

The Rumen Methane Group at the University of Western Australia (UWA) focuses on researching and developing strategies to reduce methane emissions from livestock, aiming to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions and enhance livestock productivity.​

About the opportunity

  • Develop their expertise in research in the area of rumen methane mitigation science with an increasing degree of autonomy
  • Conduct research, contribute to designing and running trials, data collection, analysis
  • Assist in manuscript preparation and research proposals, progress of ongoing research projects delivery on milestones
  • Training undergraduate and postgraduate students.

About you 

  • PhD in Animal Science
  • Demonstrated ability to organise teaching activities and co-ordinate technical staff  
  • Demonstrated knowledge and research experience in rumen, enteric methane production, animal nutrition, greenhouse gas mitigation and livestock production systems.
  • Ability to manage and analyse large datasets, preferably related to studies in methane mitigation.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate well to staff and students at all levels and evidence of a commitment to equity and diversity principles 

Note: A current “C” class driver’s licence will be required by the successful applicant.
