- Full-time appointment on a fixed term basis for 3 years.
- Base salary range: Level B, $113,934 – $134,824 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.
About the area
Work in the Centre for Offshore Foundation Systems (COFS), within the School of Earth and Oceans (SEO). COFS, established in 1997 as an ARC Special Research Centre, is a world-leading research centre in offshore geotechnics, at the forefront of research in offshore renewables. The SEO is home to a critical mass of researchers spanning ocean engineering, oceanography and marine science. In addition to COFS, the SEO hosts the Wave Energy Research Centre, the ARC Research Hub for Transforming energy Infrastructure through Digital Engineering and Woodside’s FutureLab collaboration network. SEO researchers conduct world-leading research to provide ocean solutions in relation to the marine environment and resources, engineering and technology.
About the opportunity
- Participate in and coordinate research that will demonstrate the applicability of suction embedded plate anchors in a wide range of seabed types relevant to floating offshore wind developments both in Australia and globally
- Numerical developments and physical modelling at laboratory and/or field scale, with the ultimate aim of producing a design methodology document that synthesises the research outcomes from the project, which can be used both by the partner organisations, and by the broader offshore engineering industry.
About you
- A PhD (or nearing submission) or equivalent industry experience in geotechnical engineering or a closely related field.
- Relevant research experience (or equivalent experience in engineering practice) and expertise at an appropriate level in geotechnical engineering
- Expertise in either geotechnical centrifuge modelling, field testing or numerical development/modelling
- A demonstratable track record of research publication relative to opportunity
- Ability and willingness to direct and supervise higher degree by research students
