  • Full-time (1.0 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis for 12-months with possible extension.
  • Base salary range: $77,205.00 – $82,011 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Directorate of Student Life sits within the UWA Education Portfolio, overseen by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Education & Student Experience.  The Directorate has four core functions, Student Administration, Student Offices, Student Equity & Success, and Student Wellbeing & Engagement.  The scope of services centre on the student journey, from the provision of student programs and activities that support and promote access to UWA, to student enrolment, course planning, transition, and progression through the lifecycle of study to graduation.  The Directorate is also responsible for the delivery of services that promote academic success and support wellbeing and engagement for an enhanced student experience. Student Life works closely with the Student Guild, affiliated residential colleges and the wider UWA Education portfolio.

A key function within Student Life is the Student Office team, who provide an enriched and supported student advisory service to students and the College of Schools. The Student Office team supports students’ connection to their school or discipline, facilitates core student administrative functions and delivers services to support academic progression for an enhanced student experience.

UWA’s International Student Support team provides dedicated guidance and support to the international student community, ensuring a smooth transition to university life and fostering a strong sense of belonging. The team offers a wide range of support services, including orientation, wellbeing, and social initiatives that promote engagement and retention. In addition to these, the team also manages support for international students under the age of 18, processes course variation applications and oversees reporting obligations through the Provider Registration and International Student Management System (PRISMS). Working in close collaboration with academic staff, the Student Guild, and other internal and external stakeholders, the team plays a key role in enhancing the international student experience and promoting academic and personal success throughout their journey at UWA.

About the opportunity

  • you will, under general direction, support new and current international students by providing effective administrative assistance to the area and high-quality information, support and advice to students.
  • Assist in planning, promoting, and organising strategic engagement activities.
  • Provide information to students across all channels, including in-person at the International Student Lounge, and connect them with support services related to accommodation, banking, employment, academic matters, and other needs.

About you

  • Year 12 or equivalent competency
  • Considerable relevant administrative experience at an appropriate level
  • Knowledge of relevant support services available to international students
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and work productively as part of a team.
  • Experience in coordinating events for international students from diverse ages and cultural backgrounds is desirable.

Special requirements

  • A current Working with Children Check
  • Occasional weekend or after-hours work may be required
