  • Base salary range: Level B, $118,150– $139,812 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Graduate Research School (GRS) is responsible for the administration and management of higher degrees by research (HDR), HDR supervision, scholarships and candidature, industry internships, and other research training needs of a Group of Eight research-intensive University. The GRS comprises a team of up to 30 staff members overseeing and operationalising central activities of research training for HDR students and academic supervisors in all Schools of the University. From candidature advice and inductions, through to regular training events focused on research skills and researcher development, the School also manages scholarships, thesis submission and examinations, as well as associated issues. The GRS also undertakes HDR supervisor training and develops initiatives to support early career researchers at UWA.

About the opportunity

  • Deliver high-quality researcher development teaching and programs for HDR students, supervisors and early career researchers, including curriculum design, supervision, assessment, and contribution to policy and program development across the GRS.
  • Conduct independent and collaborative research in researcher development, producing high-impact research outputs, engaging in national and international collaborations, and actively securing research funding.
  • Contribute to service, governance and engagement within the GRS and wider University, representing UWA in professional and industry networks, supporting inclusion and diversity, and participating in strategic planning and administrative activities.

About you

  • PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline or other higher professional qualifications appropriate to their discipline
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver innovative and effective training, including, program design and unit materials
  • A demonstrable track record in excellence in research evidenced by peer-reviewed journal articles published in high quality journals relative to opportunity  
  • Demonstrate evidence of successful supervision or co-supervision of HDR students, relative to opportunity    
  • Demonstrable experience of participation in education/research leadership in public engagements that promote research and/or education outcome, government and industry
