About the area

The Law School comprises over fifty scholars engaged in teaching and research in law, socio-legal studies, and criminology. We offer three undergraduate majors (Business Law, Law and Society, and Criminology), a Bachelor of Criminology and Criminal Justice, a postgraduate Juris Doctor (JD) and several Masters courses. Continually evolving to meet current and future challenges, we have a particular focus on the Indigenisation of the curriculum, internationalisation and multi-disciplinarity. Our academic staff have been drawn from top universities around the world and have broad-ranging expertise in delivering quality teaching programs.

About the opportunity

  • Deliver high-quality teaching in the Law School’s JD program and potentially other undergraduate/postgraduate courses; coordinate units and manage teaching-related administration.
  • Conduct impactful scholarly research, publish in line with the School’s objectives, supervise Honours, Masters, and HDR students, and actively pursue external research funding.
  • Contribute to Law School governance, strategic planning, and external representation through professional associations, partnerships, and community engagement, while supporting diversity and inclusion.

About you

  • Completion of an Bachelor of Laws (LLB) or Juris Doctor (JD) and: completion or significant progress towards the completion of a PhD in Law, or a relevant postgraduate qualification in Law combined with professional experience.
  • Ability to deliver innovative teaching approaches, assessments and materials for units and courses. 
  • An emerging research profile, relative to opporutnity. 
  • Demonstrable ability to liaise and effectively communicate with relevant sections of the community, professional bodies, government departments and other external organisations. 
  • Evidence of high-level interpersonal skills and verbal and written communication.
