About the area

The Directorate of Student Life within UWA’s Education Portfolio oversees Student Administration, Student Offices, Student Equity and Success, and Student Wellbeing and Engagement. Its services span the student journey from access and enrolment to progression and graduation, while promoting academic success, wellbeing, and engagement. The Directorate works closely with the Student Guild, residential colleges, and the wider Education Portfolio.

Student Wellbeing and Engagement delivers integrated services under the UWA Mental Health and Wellbeing Framework and the Safe, Respectful and Inclusive Communities Framework. Key areas include complex case management, early intervention and wellbeing support, counselling, onboarding and engagement, international student support, and prevention and response to gender-based violence.

About the opportunity

  • Plan and coordinate activities, services and programs for new and current international students in line with University policies and Australian government legislative requirements.
  • Provide a high level of administrative support, including organising student-facing events and ensuring smooth delivery of services.
  • Advise and refer international students who present with complex enquiries or transition issues, ensuring appropriate support and guidance.

About you

  • Relevant tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency
  • Substantial relevant experience at an appropriate level, including a demonstrated knowledge of relevant policies and procedures for management of international students under the ESOS Act, National Code and migration legislation and experience in the application of the same in a tertiary setting
  • Substantial experience in coordinating events for international students of diverse ages and cultural backgrounds
  • Well-developed understanding of relevant issues impacting on the successful transition to university of commencing international students and their continuing success
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills including the ability to consult and support students with various needs

Note: The successful applicant must hold a current Working with Children Check. The role may also require occasional work on weekends or evenings.
