About the area
College Services provides academic administration and technical support services to UWA’s schools, enabling world-class teaching and research. The Technical Services team delivers discipline-specific expertise in areas such as laboratory management, fieldwork, equipment stewardship, and workshop design and manufacturing. The Design and Manufacturing Centre specialises in creating innovative solutions for teaching and research projects, offering design, prototyping, and fabrication capabilities.
About the opportunity
- Provide technical expertise to design, manufacture, and assemble teaching and research projects.
- Work with academic staff and students to develop prototypes and specialist equipment.
- Contribute to a strong safety culture through implementing safe systems of work.
About you
- Relevant technical trade qualifications or equivalent competency (fitting/machining or toolmaking highly desirable).
- Extensive technical experience and knowledge of workshop practices and procedures.
- Proficiency in CAD/CAM and CNC machining (Fanuc or similar controllers desirable).
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to train and supervise staff and students.
Note: A current “C” class manual driver’s licence will be required by the successful applicant.
