About the area

The International Centre for Radio Astronomy Research (ICRAR) is a joint venture between Curtin University and The University of Western Australia (UWA), funded by the WA State Government. ICRAR is a leading Australian institution in radio astronomy and a key partner in the international SKA Project. The Astrophotonics Group at ICRAR designs and tests advanced photonic systems for radio and optical astronomy, with a focus on high‑precision signal transfer technologies.

About the opportunity

  • Lead configuration management and governance for ICRAR’s optical fibre‑based Frequency Distribution (FRQ) system, including configuration baselines, change control, and ALIM configuration data in line with the SKAO Configuration Management Plan.
  • Serve as a standing member of the Configuration Control Board (CCB) and collaborate closely with engineering teams, the SKAO Office, and global partners to ensure configuration integrity, auditability, and international compliance.
  • Provide senior project administration, including schedule governance, documentation control and traceability, risk tracking, and contract compliance reporting to support the delivery of a robust, scalable solution.

About you

  • Relevant qualification or extensive experience in configuration management, project management or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of configuration control, including change management, configuration baselines, and impact assessments, with experience applying these in large scale and/or global projects.
  • Experience with Configuration Management tools, ideally ALIM or similar systems, for managing configuration data and documents.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead configuration management for a mission-critical, high-complexity system, with responsibility for configuration integrity, auditability, and compliance with international standards.
  • Experience advising senior engineers, project managers, and external stakeholders on configuration, compliance, and change control impacts.
