About the area

The University of Western Australia is seeking a Position Management Advisor to support the design and implementation of robust position management practices across the University.

This is a greenfields opportunity to design and deliver the structure, framework, and processes that will underpin position management across UWA. The role will establish clear and consistent approaches to position governance, ensuring positions, reporting structures, classifications, and workforce data are accurate, well governed, and aligned with university policy.

Working within the Payroll and Advisory Services team, you will collaborate closely with Payroll, People & Culture Advisory teams, and Schools to strengthen workforce data integrity and support organisational change across the University.

About the opportunity

  • Play a key role in establishing UWA’s position management framework from the ground up, shaping how the University governs positions, structures, and workforce data.
  • Drive accuracy, compliance, and transparency across position governance, enabling correct payroll outcomes and improved workforce decision‑making.
  • Work collaboratively across Payroll, P&C Advisory, and Schools to strengthen data integrity, streamline processes, and support organisational change at a world top 100 university.

About you

  • Experienced in workforce administration, payroll, HR systems, or data governance, with strong capability in maintaining accurate and compliant workforce data.
  • Confident managing position creation, amendments, and structural changes, with a solid understanding of organisational hierarchies, classifications, funding and reporting lines.
  • Skilled at identifying data quality issues, applying governance standards, and implementing disciplined, auditable controls in complex environments.
  • Collaborative and solutions‑focused, able to partner effectively across P&C, Payroll, Finance, and Schools to resolve issues and strengthen processes.
  • Detail‑driven, resilient, and able to manage competing priorities while maintaining high standards of data accuracy, documentation, and compliance.
