About the area

UWA is making significant investments in the Information and Technology Services to enable its strategic direction and goals. UWA is also looking to utilise technology advancements to expand its services and create new and innovative teaching and research models.

Connected Campus has now successfully completed its initial transformation phase and is transitioning into an ongoing operational function focused on Network Lifecycle Replacement. This team will be responsible for the continuous planning, delivery, and refresh of network infrastructure across the University, ensuring assets remain current, resilient, and aligned to teaching, research, and operational requirements.

About the opportunity

  • Provide high level strategic advice on the implications of adopting new technologies and prepares reports and briefings for stakeholders on emerging trends. Recommends and sponsors pilot projects or proofs of concept where technologies show potential value for the University’s network environment.
  • Manage and monitor compliance with relevant IT policies, standards, and processes to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of network and communications design functions. Close collaboration is required with the Network Engineering and Network Administration teams to confirm that proposed designs, topologies, and configurations remain operationally supportable and achievable within service delivery capabilities.
  • Lead, mentor and motivates the team to maintain high level performance and capability through the setting of clear expectations, ongoing communication, formal performance appraisals, performance management processes, and targeted training to address skills gaps.

About you

  • Relevant postgraduate tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
  • Substantial and extensive experience in designing, monitoring and maintaining network, communications and infrastructure (wired and wireless) services in large and complex organisations.
  • Excellent demonstrated ability to promote and assess technology's potential to drive change, evaluating feasibility and impact.
  • Extensive experience managing technical teams and external service providers.
  • Maintains a strategic overview of how technology services contribute to organisational success.
