  • Part-time (0.6 FTE) appointment on a fixed term basis until May 2027.
  • Base salary range: $104,243 – $115,661 p.a. (pro-rata) plus 17% superannuation.

About the area

The Australian Consortium for ‘In-Country’ Indonesian Studies (ACICIS) is an innovative, non-profit, national educational consortium established in 1994 to coordinate high-quality study programs in Indonesia for Australian university students. The consortium is administered by a national secretariat based at The University of Western Australia and governed by a National Reference Group comprising senior Indonesian Studies academics from across Australia. The ACICIS Secretariat manages the consortium’s day-to-day operations, including academic program delivery in Indonesia, member university engagement, student mobility funding, and compliance with Australian Government contractual and financial requirements.

About the opportunity 

  • Oversee financial reporting, monitoring, and acquittals for external grants, funding agreements, contracts, and externally funded projects (including DFAT mobility funding and custom program budgets), ensuring compliance with funding requirements.
  • Manage the day-to-day financial operations of the Consortium, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant transactions, strong internal controls, regular reconciliations, and the integrity of financial data across all systems and accounts in accordance with University and Consortium policy.
  • Prepare, monitor, and coordinate the Consortium’s annual operating and program budgets, including forecasting, analysis, financial commentary, and submission through the UWA budgeting system, working closely with UWA's finance team.

About you

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, or related discipline, and/or equivalent demonstrated competency.
  • Full professional membership (or eligibility) of a recognised Australian accounting body (e.g., CPA, CA, IPA).
  • Extensive experience in financial management, budgeting, and reporting—ideally within a higher education or not-for-profit environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple funding streams, including government grants and externally funded projects.
  • High-level analytical and problem-solving skills, with demonstrated capacity to provide strategic financial advice and interpret complex data.
