About the area
UWA is making significant investments in Information and Technology Services to enable its strategic direction and goals. UWA is also looking to utilise technology advancements to expand its services and create new and innovative teaching and research models.
The Platforms and Operations portfolio is responsible for the delivery, reliability and continuous improvement of the University’s core digital infrastructure and operational technology services. The Network Operations function provides the operational leadership required to sustain secure, resilient and supportable network and communications services across the University, ensuring they remain aligned with teaching, research and business requirements.
About the opportunity
- Lead the Network Operations function to deliver secure, stable, resilient and sustainable network and communications services that meet agreed University service levels, including the operational management of wired, wireless, remote access, core communications and related service domains.
- Provide high-level operational leadership across service monitoring, incident management, problem management, change coordination, maintenance planning, capacity management and service continuity activities to ensure timely restoration of services and disciplined operational control.
- Manage and monitor compliance with relevant IT policies, standards and processes to ensure the efficient and effective delivery of network and communications operations and work closely with architecture, engineering, cyber security and service delivery teams to ensure operational models remain supportable and aligned with approved design patterns.
About you
- Relevant postgraduate tertiary qualification or demonstrated equivalent competency.
- Substantial and extensive experience leading the operation, support, monitoring and maintenance of network, communications and infrastructure services in large and complex organisations.
- Extensive experience in operational service management practices, including incident, problem, change, capacity, continuity and supplier management, within a complex technology environment.
- Excellent demonstrated ability to provide leadership to technical teams and external service providers, including the setting of operational direction, performance expectations and accountability for outcomes.
- Excellent demonstrated ability to translate strategic and architectural direction into sustainable operational service models, standards, procedures and improvement roadmaps.
