UWA is making significant investments in Information and Technology Services to enable its strategic direction and goals. Robust, flexible, integrated and agile enterprise architecture, information and technology services are essential to supporting the University’s teaching, research, and operational priorities.
Within University IT, the Essential 8 cyber compliance project is focused on strengthening UWA’s cyber security posture through coordinated delivery of controls, remediation activities, governance uplift, and measurable compliance outcomes. The program brings together technical specialists, service owners, risk and compliance stakeholders, and delivery teams to progress a complex portfolio of interdependent work.
About the opportunity
- Lead agile delivery for UWA’s Essential 8 cyber compliance project, coordinating work across technical teams, control owners, and delivery stakeholders.
- Facilitate sprint planning, stand-ups, reviews, and retrospectives to allocate, track, and continuously improve the tasks required to uplift Essential 8 maturity.
- Drive disciplined, transparent delivery by managing dependencies, removing impediments, and embedding security, risk, and compliance considerations into team practices.
About you
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Information Technology or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Substantial experience as a Scrum Master or agile delivery practitioner within complex IT environments, ideally in cyber security or compliance-related delivery.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating Scrum teams, coordinating cross-functional delivery tasks, and applying agile frameworks at scale, in particular in a project environment.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, facilitation, and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience using agile delivery tools, metrics, and reporting artefacts to support transparency, continuous improvement, and governance.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, solve problems, and embed security, risk, and compliance considerations into delivery practices aligned with university requirements.
Desirable
- Scrum Master certification (CSM, PSM or equivalent) and experience working in large, complex or public sector organisations will be highly regarded.
