  • Lead impactful, field-based research on climate change and groundwater systems across Western Australia.
  • Collaborate with government partners and multidisciplinary experts in a nationally significant research program.
  • Full-time fixed term basis for 3 years.
  • Base salary range: Level B, $118,150 – $139,812 p.a. plus 17% superannuation.

The Centre for Water and Spatial Science (CWSS) is a multidisciplinary research centre bringing together expertise across engineering, environment and earth sciences. With strong partnerships across government and industry, CWSS is a collaborative hub focused on advancing water research at local, national and international levels.

About the opportunity

  • Lead and deliver field-based hydrological research across seven observational sites from Dandaragan to Myalup
  • Design and execute field campaigns, including installation and maintenance of monitoring equipment
  • Manage, curate and analyse large environmental datasets aligned with regulatory standards
  • Apply and develop hydrological and numerical modelling techniques to generate predictive insights
  • Produce high-impact research outputs, including peer-reviewed publications and reports
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders, including the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation
  • Supervise and mentor casual staff, students and volunteers in field and research activities

About you

  • A PhD in hydrology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, numerical modelling, reactive transport, or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated research track record with publications in peer-reviewed journals
  • Proven experience in field-based environmental or hydrological research
  • Strong skills in data management, modelling and analysis, ideally in groundwater or recharge systems
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders, including government agencies
