Field education is a cornerstone of professional social work training, providing students with essential real-world learning experiences across health and human services settings.

About the opportunity

As Lecturer (Field Education Coordinator) based on our Crawley campus full time, you will combine academic teaching with professional practice leadership, ensuring students have access to high-quality field education experiences that prepare them for contemporary social work practice.

Key responsibilities include:

• Developing, sourcing and coordinating high-quality field placements for Master of Social Work students.
• Building and maintaining strong partnerships with health, community and human services organisations to secure placement opportunities.
• Matching students to placements that align with their learning goals and professional development needs.
• Providing leadership, guidance and professional development to field educators, supervisors and liaison staff to support positive student outcomes.
• Delivering teaching, tutoring, unit coordination and placement integration activities within Social Work programs.
• Managing and enhancing field education systems, processes and documentation to ensure compliance with accreditation, professional and university requirements.

This role offers a unique opportunity for an experienced social work practitioner with strong sector networks to influence professional education while maintaining meaningful engagement with the health and human services sectors.

About you

• Eligible for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers (AASW), with demonstrated professional social work practice experience in relevant health, community or human services settings.
• Proven experience supporting or supervising social work students on placement, with a strong understanding of social work field education in the Australian context.
• Established professional networks across health and human services sectors, with the ability to develop and sustain collaborative partnerships.
• Demonstrated teaching and/or unit coordination experience in higher education, with the ability to deliver engaging learning experiences using contemporary teaching approaches, including blended and online learning.
• Highly developed organisational, stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities, drive process improvements and work effectively with students, academic staff and external partners.
