About the area

The School of Earth and Oceans encompasses a broad range of Earth Science disciplines (geoscience, hydrogeology, geodata analytics, oceanography), Coastal and Ocean Engineering (hydrodynamics, geotechnics) and with a strong focus on research-led teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate majors and courses. Our location in Western Australia with its ancient geological record and magnificent coastline also provides tremendous opportunities for terrestrial and marine field-based teaching and learning.

The Museum’s displays and galleries are the focal point for outreach activities for earth sciences and UWA more broadly. Loans of specimens and samples to UWA researchers, national and international researchers, government and industry personnel are also managed by the Museum.

The School is also seeking to develop more digital interactive elements to further promote earth sciences to the wider community.
